Portugal Investment Immigration
Golden Visa Fund Pathway

Portugal launched the Golden Visa in October 2012. Today you can obtain residence by investing about €500,000 (USD 550,000) in a qualifying domestic fund or donating about €200,000 (USD 220,000) to a cultural heritage project.

A Golden Residence Card lets you live, work, do business, and study in Portugal — one application covering three generations — with public education and healthcare access and Schengen travel across 29 countries.

Q&A
FAQ
After 5 years without a language certificate/residence card, can I still file for citizenship?

Yes. Without a language certificate you can register for classes/exams first. Missing a card does not block filing — counsel can still submit — but success is not guaranteed; a refusal does not bar later applications.

If I apply on a Chinese passport then switch passports, does the citizenship clock change?

Please confirm one-on-one with your advisor under the latest rules for your situation.

What are the stay requirements after switching to permanent residence?

Permanent residence still requires a minimum stay every 2 years — confirm the current immigration authority standard with your advisor.

Is the new Portuguese culture exam hard? Can A2 still be obtained online?

Language and culture exam formats change with policy — confirm current certification channels with your advisor before filing.
